Janas Lynn Jackson is president of Jan Jackson Productions, LLC, a public relations firm based in New York City and Memphis, Tennessee. Her professional background has included managing communications and diversity and inclusion programs for major global corporations. She has also served as a “ghostwriter” and communication advisor to several top corporate executives, world-renowned motivational speakers, and non-profit organizations.
Throughout her life, Janas has embraced the rich art of storytelling as a way to enhance cultural awareness and build bridges to hope and healing. She also shares her time and talents with young people as a tutor and mentor. Janas holds a master of arts degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Through her children’s book “Goodbye Shy, Hello Sky,” Janas speaks from her own experience as a shy child who learned to come out of her shell and find her voice.
When Janas’s son, Mark, was in elementary school, she began writing children’s stories for him. The stories focused on confidence, family history, respect for others, and the importance of using one’s talents to help improve the world. She expanded her outreach from her home to community schools where she volunteered as a tutor for children in reading and writing. Her children’s book, Goodbye Shy, Hello Sky, is a continuation of her love for bringing stories to life.
The book not only validates the feelings of children who experience shyness but also encourages them to embrace their uniqueness and find their voice. Through vibrant illustrations and a touching narrative, Janas skillfully navigates the delicate balance between the comfort of being shy and the courage needed to face the world.
